49976 Hamilton Beach model definitely packs some amazing features. If you’re looking for a 12 cup coffee maker that can also make single-serve coffee in one go, you may want to consider this brewer. But, there are some downsides to this coffeemaker and while it’s made to be super flexible, it won’t impress all of you.
But first, let’s have a look at the most important features and what is it that makes it such a special coffeemaker!
Most important features
Before going any further, let me say that 49976 model definitely has some surprising features stacked up its sleeve! It can easily impress an average user, who’s not into the whole coffee-making science and whatnot.
If you’re looking for a well-performing coffee maker you can use on a daily basis, keep reading!
1. 2-way coffee brewing options
Hamilton 49976 brewer comes with 2 separate water reservoirs. It’s a 2 in 1 coffee maker that serves as a single-serve and a full 12-cup model. This is definitely an amazing feature but keep in mind that you can only use one side at the time. You can’t make a 12-cup carafe and single-serve coffee cup at the same time.
Another amazing feature is that you can use either K-cups or ground coffee to make your cup of joe! The single-serve side can make 10 ounces of coffee with K-cup or 14 oz with ground coffee. The carafe side can make 12 cups of coffee, with a standard size of 5.5 ounces per cup. In any case, for best results use only cold water when filling up any of the reservoirs!
2. Choosing the brew strength
You can choose between two brewing strengths: a regular and bold type. While some of the users reported that they can’t actually tell the difference between these two strengths, this is still a handy and welcome feature to all who want to have some control over the type of their brew.
3. Programmable Timer
If you’re one of those people who love to wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee, this machine has got you covered. With an automated digital timer, you can set the brew time up to 24 hours in advance. Good morning, my fresh cup of power and love!
The only downside is that the timer is only set for the carafe side and not for the single-serve side.
4. Auto pause and serve
Additionally, if you’re too impatient to wait for the brewing process to end, you can now pause and serve yourself a cup during the brewing process easily. This brewer promises no dripping while you remove the carafe to pour that first cup of coffee! But, return the carafe to its original position on the coffee maker to prevent any spilling or dripping within 20 seconds from when you first removed it.
5. Auto shut off
This coffee maker comes with an auto shut off so you don’t have to stand next to it at all times when brewing coffee. What’s more, the machine keeps the carafe warm for two hours before turning off, but only on the carafe side not on the single-serve side.
6. Easy to use
This coffee machine is pretty straightforward to use. The button controls are located on the left side of the unit. Next to these controls, the brewer displays the status of brewing with illuminations.
Using the carafe side comes down to putting in a paper filter, filling it with coffee, and pushing the start button.

- Mix 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1/2 cup cold water
- Select carafe/single brew side on the brewer and pour the mix into the water reservoir

What is the size of a travel mug that fits on Hamilton 49976 model?

Still, to give you an idea of what machine is the best, I did a little Amazon research. According to them, the bestsellers of Hamilton Beach coffeemakers are:

Final Decision: Is Hamilton Beach FlexBrew a good coffee maker?
This is not the fastest coffee maker on the market but it will provide you with a good cup of coffee on both sides of the brewer. The K-cup single-serve coffee is the hottest when it comes out, but the carafe coffee is also quite warm. Overall, it’s very easy to use this coffee machine whether you’re brewing a single cup or a full pot.
After all, it’s still a cheaper version to more expensive K-cup machines even though the Hamilton K-cup single serve feature isn’t as effective as on this regular Keurig, which is also a bestseller on Amazon (after all, it’s more affordable, comes with different brew sizes for a K-cup machine, and similar dimensions). Still, you can put a large mug or a travel mug underneath the coffemaker and it’ll brew a steaming cup of coffee in 2.5 minutes!
If you’re looking for a decent dual coffee maker for a normal price, look no further. I’ve given it 3 stars because it does what it promises. I love the single-serve basket, tall cup rest, and water windows. Still, there are certain flaws that make it not the best coffee maker ever, even though it holds pretty well for being a Hamilton.
